Minnesota Football Commitment Visiting Elsewhere This Weekend

Minnesota football commitment visiting elsewhere this weekend

Gophers pledge set to take official visit to another Big Ten school

While the Gophers are on a bye week, their coaching staff is preparing for a big recruiting weekend. Several top targets will be in town for official visits, including four-star defensive end Jaxon Howard and four-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks.

But one of Minnesota's current commitments will be visiting another school this weekend.

Three-star athlete Avante Dickerson, who committed to the Gophers in June, is taking an official visit to Purdue this weekend. Dickerson, a 6-foot-2, 185-pounder from Bolingbrook, Illinois, is considered one of the top athletes in the Midwest.

Dickerson is a versatile player who could play offense or defense at the next level. He is a physical runner with good speed and agility. He is also a good tackler and has a knack for making big plays.

It is not uncommon for recruits to take official visits to other schools even after they have committed to a school. However, it is always worth monitoring when a player takes a visit to a rival school.

Purdue is a member of the Big Ten West, the same division as Minnesota. The Boilermakers are coming off a 9-4 season and are looking to make a run at the Big Ten Championship this year.

It is unclear if Dickerson's visit to Purdue will affect his commitment to Minnesota. However, it is something that the Gophers coaching staff will be monitoring closely.
